Dallas sits in an awkward place for Umrah. It is a major international airport with no nonstop to Saudi Arabia, which means the connection is not a detail of your trip — it is most of the first day of it.
Here is the year from DFW, round trip, economy, with a checked bag, priced in September 2026 for a group of nine.

Ramadan is the cheap season from Dallas
This is the most useful thing on the page, and it surprises almost everyone. The four Ramadan windows produced the four cheapest fares of the year from DFW, between $894 and $989. Late November and late December, which most families assume are ordinary months, came in around $1,460 to $1,475 — over five hundred dollars more per person.
The reason is that Dallas fares are set by American holiday demand, and American holiday demand is Thanksgiving and Christmas. The airlines do not price Ramadan as a peak out of Texas.
The catch is that Ramadan is expensive on the ground. A Makkah hotel that costs $402 a night in October costs $572 to $712 a night in Ramadan. Dallas travellers are in the useful position of saving several hundred on the flight and then choosing how much of it to put back into the hotel.
Turkish or Royal Jordanian: what the connection does to your day
Two carriers do most of the work from DFW, and they are not the same experience.
Turkish, through Istanbul. Istanbul Airport is enormous. A ninety-minute connection there is a brisk walk with hand luggage, not a break. If you are travelling with children or an elderly parent, look hard at the connection time before you book — two and a half hours is comfortable, ninety minutes is not. The upside is a good aircraft and the best food of any carrier on the route.
Royal Jordanian, through Amman. Queen Alia is small, calm and easy to move around. The second leg to Jeddah is about two and a half hours, the shortest of any connection available from Texas. For a first Umrah, this is the gentler option, and on our Ramadan dates it was also the cheaper one.
Delta with a partner, which appeared on the New Year window, routes through a European hub. Check the fare type carefully on these — European carriers are where the hand-baggage-only fares live, and we found the bag gap reaching $158 per person on some routings.
Where you land matters more from Dallas
On a nineteen-to-twenty-four hour journey, arriving in Jeddah means you must already be in ihram when the aircraft crosses the miqat on approach. From Dallas that means changing at Istanbul or Amman, roughly fourteen hours into your day, and then staying in ihram through the second flight, immigration, baggage and the drive to Makkah.
Landing in Madinah instead removes that entirely. You arrive in ordinary clothes, sleep, pray at the Prophet’s Mosque, and enter ihram at Dhul Hulayfah a few days later on the way to Makkah — rested, in daylight, at a place built for it.

Practical notes for Texas pilgrims
Dallas Love Field is not useful for this. Everything long-haul goes from DFW.
Houston is not reliably cheaper. We priced IAH alongside DFW across all eight windows, and Houston was cheaper on some dates and dearer on others. If you are between the two cities, check both rather than assuming.
Build the connection in. On a Dallas itinerary the flight time is roughly sixteen hours of flying plus the layover. Plan the first day in Saudi Arabia as a rest day, not a touring day.
