Umrah from Chicago

Planning Umrah from Chicago

Umrah from Chicago means one connection, so we plan the layover as carefully as the hotel. We look at the layover length, whether you will be entering ihram before your second flight, and how tired you will be when you reach the hotel, not only at the fare.

Our Chicago packages cover the city and the suburbs, and families from northwest Indiana and Milwaukee often fly out of O’Hare with us too.

From the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview to the shops of Devon Avenue, Chicagoland has one of the largest Muslim communities in the United States. Many families here travel with parents or grandparents, so we are careful about walking distance in Makkah and about wheelchair help at the airports.

Local tips

Before you fly from Chicago

Plan around winter weather

December and January departures from O’Hare can be hit by snow and de-icing delays. We prefer connections with a comfortable layover so a late start in Chicago does not cost you your onward flight.

Change into ihram at the connection

If you are flying to Jeddah through Doha, Dubai or Istanbul, many men change into ihram in the airport before the second flight. The prayer rooms in those airports have space to do it.

Madinah first is easy from here

Because every main connection also serves Madinah, you can start with calm days in Madinah and enter ihram at Dhul Hulayfah on the road to Makkah.

Questions

Umrah from Chicago: questions

Are there direct flights from Chicago to Jeddah?
No. As of the 2026 schedule there is no nonstop between Chicago and Saudi Arabia. The usual routes are one stop through Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Istanbul or Amman.
How much does Umrah cost from Chicago?
Our dated group departures from O’Hare start at $1,890 per person sharing a quad room, and that price already covers round-trip flights, the Umrah visa, hotels inside a thousand metres of both Harams with daily breakfast, all group transport and ziyarat in Makkah and Madinah. Ramadan and the last week of December cost more, and every departure is listed with its own price.
How long is the trip from Chicago to Makkah?
Plan for 16 to 20 hours door to airport with one connection, then about an hour and a half by road from Jeddah airport to Makkah, depending on traffic.
Do I need a visa for Umrah?
Yes. Every package includes an Umrah visa issued through Nusuk. Green card and US visa holders have options that depend on their passport. Read the visa guide.
